Lesson 05: Sahabiyat (R.A)

i. Hazrat Umm-e-Aiman (R.A)



Her name is Barqa and her surname is Umm-e-Aiman . She was the resident of Abyssinia. Hazrat Umm-e-Aiman  was the maid servant of the Holy Prophet's Jesse) father, Hazrat Abdullah. Hazrat Umm-e-Aiman had been with Hazrat Abdullah since her childhood. When Hazrat Abdullah  died, she started living with Hazrat Amna . After that she got the honor of entering the circle of Islam. She raised the Holy Prophet (Jesus) in his childhood. After the death of her husband, she  got married to Hazrat Zaid Bin Haritha .



 



Hazrat Umm-e-Aiman  migrated to Abyssinia. She returned to Madina after migration and took part in the battle of Uhud. During this battle, she used to give water to the people and treat the injured. She also participated in the battle of Khyber. In 11 Hijri, when the Holy Prophet  passed away, Umm-e-Aima  was crying bitterly.Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique and Hazrat Umar Farooq explained that Allah has the best for the Messenger of Allah . She replied: I know that well and this is not the reason of crying. I'm crying because the series of revelations is discontinued now. Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique  and Hazrat Umar Farooq  were so much shaken by this answer that both of them started to cry bitterly. 



 



Hazrat Umm-e-Aiman  had two sons, Hazrat Aiman from her first husband who was a great companion of the Holy Prophet . He was martyred in the battle of Khyber. The second son Hazrat Usama was very dear to the Holy Prophet Just). He was a special companion of the Holy Prophet and the Holy Prophet loved him a lot .



Hazrat Umm-e-Aiman  has narrated some Hadiths. She  was a lady with great character and values. The Holy Prophet  respected her a lot and used to say that Umm-e-Aiman (45) is my mother. The Holy Prophet used to visit her off and on personally. 



 



ii. Hazrat Umm-e-Ammarah 



Her name was Nusaiba and her surname was Umme Ammarah. She belonged to Banu Nujjar tribe. She participated in the Bait-e-Uqba. Bait-e-Uqba included 73 men and two women. Hazrat Umm-e-Ammarah  was one of them. 



 



She took part in the battle of Uhud and fought with great courage and bravery. She was filling water in a musket and giving water to the people, when she reached near the Holy Prophet and started to protect the Holy Prophet When the infidels attacked the Holy Prophet , she stopped them with arrows and sword. The Prophet said that I saw Hazrat Umm-e-Ammarah fighting on my right and left in the battle of Uhud. She killed an infidel in the battle of Uhud. She also took part in battle of Khyber, Bait-e-Rizwan and the conquest of Makkah. 



 



The battle of Yamama was fought in the era of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique . This war was fought against Masalima Qazaab who was a false claimant of prophethood. Hazrat Umm- e-Ammarah  took her son Habib and left with Hazrat Khalid bin Waleed . When Musalima Qazaab killed her son, she swore that either Musalima Qazaab would be killed or she will lay down her life. After this, she drew out her sword, entered the battle field and fought so bravely that she got many wounds and one of her arms was cut off. Musalima Qazaab was killed in this battle. She (b) has also narrated some Hadiths. She died in Madina in 13th Hijri and was buried in Jannat-ul-Baqi. 



 



iii. Hazrat Asma Bint-e-Abi Bakr 



Her name was Asma and title was ‘Zaat-ul-Nataqin'. She is the daughter of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique (4) and was born in Makkah 27 years before the migration. Hazrat Asma was married to Hazrat Zubair Bin Awam . Like her husband, she excelled in embracing Islam. She was the eighteenth among the believers. 



 



When the Holy Prophet  migrated to Madina, Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique was his traveling companion.The Prophet came to his house in the afternoon and expressed the idea of migration. Hazrat Asma  prepared the travel equipment, packed food with them for two to three days, tore the belt that Arab women wrapped around their waist and tied the mouth of the vessel with it. That is why she is remembered by the title of ‘Zaat-ul-Nataqin' (the two-waisted). 



Hazrat Asma reached Madina and attended the Holy Prophet and stayed in Quba. Hazrat Abdullah bin Zubair  was born here, and she took him to the service of the Holy Prophet . He  took Abdullah in his arms, hugged him and prayed for him. 



 



Everyone is aware of the greatness of Hazrat Abdullah bin Zubair . After the Caliphate of Rashidah, his kingdom was established over a large area of Hijaz. Therefore, the entire Islamic world responded to his voice. Hazrat Abdullah bin Zubair was martyred during the reign of Banu Umayyad. Hajjaj bin Yusuf hanged his body on scaffold. After three days, Hazrat Asma came to the dead body of her son with the maidservant. The body was hanging there, she looked at this scene with a heavy heart and said very firmly, "Is it the time for this rider to get off his horse?" 



 



Hazrat Asma  was a lady of high values and morals. She was truthful and very patient. She used to speak the truth in front of tyrants and oppressors like Hajjaj bin Yusuf. The martyrdom of Hazrat Abdullah bin Zubair  was a doom for a mother, but the example of her determination and courage, patience and steadfastness, self-control and bravery were rarely seen in history. She was a brave, modest and selfless lady. Hazrat Asma  has narrated 56 Hadiths by the Holy Prophet . Hazrat Asma  died in 73 Hijri at the age of 100.
